How to Repair a High Pressure Washer Hose?

Pressure washers use electricity or gas engines to compress the water going through the hose. The result is a highly pressurized stream of water that is good for cleaning hard-to-remove dirt and buildup from surfaces. Pressure washer hoses are, as the name would imply, under a lot of pressure from the inside. So, if you spring a leak in a pressure washer hose, traditional hose repair methods such as tape or epoxy aren't enough. The best way to repair a pressure washer hose is by cutting out the leak and replacing it with a new coupling.

1.Cut the power to the pressure washer if it is running. Unplug it from any electrical sockets.

2.Discharge any water inside the hose by pressing the hose trigger.

3.Locate the leak in the pressure washer hose. Dry off the area around the puncture or leak.

4.Use a pair of shears to cut the hose on each side of the leak. Ensure that the cut is clean and straight across.

5.Insert the male repair coupling into one end of the hose. Crimp the ends of the coupling so they are flat against the hose. Tighten any compression rings on the crimped ends, if present.

6.Insert the female repair coupling into the other side of the hose. Crimp the ends so they are flat, as you did with the male end. Secure with any compression rings.

7.Connect the male and female repair couplings together. Tighten with the wrench.

There are a number of different repair couplings that can be used on pressure washer hoses. The above steps are just a guideline. Always follow the specific instructions from your manufacturer.
