There are three shapes and pressure washer

There are three shapes and sizes in pressure washer this range and while all offer enough power and mobility for effortless cleaning of everything from your car to your patio, we like this mid-priced one that comes with a handy three in one nozzle for low pressure soap setting, rotary jet and fan options. It’s easy to set up and work.
This budget option is great if you just want a pressure washer for cleaning your car. For bigger jobs like cleaning the patio or decking, we’d suggest buying the extra attachments. You’ll still be quids in though as they start at as little as £15. It’s light to carry and won’t clog up your shed.
This does a sterling job at cleaning just about every kind of surface you can think of and it’s easy and comfortable to use. Be warned it’s heavier and larger than many pressure washers and the hose and cable can be difficult to keep tidy, but it’s incredibly powerful and durable and bottled detergents fit into it easily for car cleaning.
This compact, lightweight pressure washer is fantastically powerful. From washing stone work to caravans and from decking to cars and bikes, it’s brilliant at removing dirt and grime without the needs for chemicals. There are oodles of great accessories and attachments for every job.
This new design is ergonomic and easy to use and manages to get rid of even the most stubborn dirt. An easy attachment spray set means you can add detergent into your spray and the variable pressure fan jet nozzle means you can cover big areas quickly. All the attachments can be stored away neatly.
Handy accessories include the detergent bottle, inlet with water filter, brush, gun, turbo lance and fixed brush patio cleaner. And if some of those mean nothing to you, they soon will when you get going with this powerful machine that’s built for a really wide variety of jobs.
Whether you want to clean a car, caravan, motorbike, driveway or boat, this will do you proud. The total stop valve helps increase its lifespan and reduce energy consumption, automatically activating and deactivating the high pressure cleaner every time the trigger is operated.
The Nilfisk name is well respected in the world of pressure washers and its latest model is as powerful as they come. There’s a soft feed hose that stores away easily and a comprehensive accessory system. The auto start/stop system helps with a longer pump life too.

What Pressure Washers

After spending weeks reading just about anything pressure washer-related I could get my hands on the penny finally dropped! After that, I found I had loads of free time on my hands, so I decided to do something useful and create a review website in order to help people (like you) find out what they need to know without having to go through all the hassle I did. I knew pressure washers existed, but trying to find one was a nightmare due to the insane number of makes and models out there.
Even though all my articles and reviews are pretty short and to the point, it will take you an entire afternoon to go through all of them (which is better than weeks), but I realize some of you don’t have the time. If this is you don’t worry because I’ve compiled a comparison table that lists all the pressure washers I have along with their main characteristics and features as well as links to Amazon. For those of you who can set aside more time, I invite you to keep reading.
If you have been reading up on power washers some of the terms you come across may not be crystal-clear right off the bat. Before reading the pressure washer reviews I have posted I suggest you take a look at some informational articles I have prepared for you, they contain everything you need to know.
The High Pressure Washer MK-5224T is the best electric power washer currently on the market, so it was pretty easy for me to award it this title. Not only is it one of the best reviewed and best-selling pressure washers it also has a massively powerful  GPM motor, and a number of features you won’t find elsewhere.
While their application is generally contained within the name, pressure washers can do a lot more than you think. Depending on the amount of power they can clean pretty much anything.
You are going to be using your power washer all the time (because it’s awesome), but you have to think about how to take care of and maintain it. This article will let you in on all the things you need to do in order to keep your washer functioning for years to come.

whan is pressure washers

pressure washers provide PSI to whisk away dirt and grime at greater velocities. Sears has an entire inventory of pressure washers from Craftsman and other popular brand names for use with commercial and residential cleanup projects. BE industrial pressure washers offer more than 4,000 PSI for removing chipped paint or dirt from the home's exterior walls. You also have the choice between wall-mount and portable gas-powered and electric pressure washers that include steam cleaning. We also have pressure washer accessories to complement your Craftsman or Stanley units.
Along with pressure washers, sand blasters work well for cleaning and sanding walls and car bodies at high velocities. Unlike the pressure washer, which uses water for cleaning surfaces, a sand blaster uses fine bits of material to smooth uneven surfaces or to remove paint or grime from walls. You can even use the sand blaster to remove stuck-on grime from metal parts like tools and drill bits. We also carry Craftsman and Campbell Hausfield sand blasters that use siphon-feed or compressed air to shoot the material at high speeds.
Complement your pressure washers and sand blasters with additional air tools from Craftsman and Chicago Pneumatic. Using an air tool provides more power for tightening bolts or for grinding metal when compared to a manual hand tool. As an example, Craftsman air impact wrenches offer more than 580 foot-pounds of torque while still weighing less than five pounds. We carry air compressors and hoses that work with most Craftsman and other name-brand air tools such as Campbell Hausfield air grinders and 3M air sanders. You can also find impact sockets that withstand the force of your air impact wrenches and ratchets.
Despite the benefit of air tools, you need an external electrical source in order to power the units. If you work on a job site that lacks electricity, then power your pressure washers and air tools with a Craftsman generator. We have DuroStar portable generators with heavy-duty wheels and six outlets that offer up to 10,000 watts of power. Choose between commercial and standby generators for use on the job site or at your home in case of blackouts. You even have access to Go Power! solar generators that provide up to 100 watts of power each, saving you money on your monthly power bill and reducing your carbon footprint.
Clean dirt and grime from your walls and driveways with industrial-strength pressure washers and sand blasters. Invest in air tools like impact wrenches and ratchets for increased torque over your mechanical projects, and power your tools with a Craftsman portable generator. Browse the  inventory for more affordable tools and accessories for your professional workshop or at-home garage.

Pressure washer

Pressure washers easily clean decks, patios, driveways, siding, sheds, outdoor power equipment and more. If you need a pressure washer with just enough power for basic cleaning projects, an electric pressure washer will fit the bill with PSI ratings of 1400 to 2000.

For larger jobs, gas pressure washers really deliver the power. With PSI ranges of 2500 to 4200 these power washers have the force needed to remove the toughest baked on stains and cut down cleaning time as much as 50% over electric models.

Pressure washers are a huge help to every do-it-yourself enthusiast during spring cleaning. Cleaning your home’s exterior and yard will go a long way toward a great looking home, and those cleaning projects will be made easier with outdoor power equipment such as leaf blowers, lawn mowers, riding mowers, trimmers & edgers, splitters & chippers. They cut down on the amount of time needed to complete these chores, and the physical toll these tasks require.
A pressure washer or power washer is a high-pressure mechanical sprayer used to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a pressure washer is expressed in gallons or litres per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable. The pressure, expressed in pounds per square inch, pascals, or bar (deprecated but in common usage), is designed into the pump but can be varied by adjusting the unloader valve. Machines that produce pressures from 750 to 30,000 psi (5 to 200 MPa) or more are available.

The basic pressure washer consists of a motor (either electric, internal combustion, pneumatic or hydraulic) that drives a high-pressure water pump, a high-pressure hose and a trigger gun-style switch. Just as a garden hose nozzle is used to increase the velocity of water, a pressure washer creates high pressure and velocity. The pump cannot draw more water from the pipe to which the washer is connected than that source can provide: the water supply must be adequate for the machine connected to it, as water starvation leads to cavitation damage of the pump elements.

Different types of nozzle are available for different application. Some nozzles create a water jet that is in a triangular plane (fan pattern), others emit a thin jet of water that spirals around rapidly (cone pattern). Nozzles that deliver a higher flow rate lower the output pressure. Most nozzles attach directly to the trigger gun.

Some washers, with an appropriate nozzle, allow detergent to be introduced into the water stream, assisting in the cleaning process. Two types of chemical injectors are available — a high-pressure injector that introduces the chemical after the water leaves the pump (a downstream injector) and a low-pressure injector that introduces the chemical before water enters the pump (an upstream injector). The type of injector used is related to the type of detergent used, as there are many chemicals that will damage a pump if an upstream injector is used.

Washers are dangerous tools and should be operated with due regard to safety instructions. The water pressure near the nozzle is powerful enough to strip flesh from bone. Particles in the water supply are ejected from the nozzle at great velocities. The cleaning process can propel objects dislodged from the surface being cleaned, also at great velocities. Pressure washers have a tendency to break up tarmac if aimed directly at it, due to high-pressure water entering cracks and voids in the surface.

Most consumer washers are electric- or petrol-powered. Electric washers plug into a normal outlet, are supplied with tap water, and typically deliver pressure up to about 2,000 psi (140 bar). Petrol washers can deliver twice that pressure washers, but due to the hazardous nature of the engine exhaust they are unsuitable for enclosed or indoor areas. Some models can generate hot water, which can be ideal for loosening and removing oil and grease.

Karcher Pressure Washers Good Or Bad

A few weeks ago I was asked by a friend if I knew where she could get a good pressure washer for cleaning her greenhouse. I told her that recently it would seem Karcher are the word on the street when it comes to jet washes and pressure washers.

But let’s investigate further. It would seem that Karcher have really gone to town with advertising over the past year. I don’t think I’ve seen a football game on TV all season with out seeing a Karcher advert on a bill board at the side of the pitch. Not to meantion there huge marketing ploy to clean Mount Rushmore in the USA. I bet that job took a large amount of pressure washing equipment.

My local town counsel also use high pressure washers to remove graffiti and for use as gutter cleaners. I’ll bet you can guess which name is on there big yellow machines. They’re all Karcher pressure washers!

Next Karcher have been touting recently that they’re going to be cleaning nelsons column with there high power pressure washers. Karcher say each machine used to clean the column is using a 3 high pressure extension hoses at over 60 metres in length. I think that’s quite a feet. As anyone who uses pressure washers recently will know. The long high pressure hose you have the more bars in pressure you lose. (Pressure is measured in bars, with lighter cleaning jobs such as a dirty car needing around 100 bar, while tougher and harder to reach jobs like the roof needing at least 120 bar. )
On of the great things about Karcher, is there innovation. I was talking to on of there reps a few months back and they have a great little idea on the horizon. Why pay all that postage and package for 10 litres of liquid detergent. Karcher have a better idea. Freeze dry the detergent.

Hot water pressure washers clean faster and more thoroughly using significantly less both water and chemicals, while. Cold water pressure washers have power to quickly remove grime, dirt, debris, stripping paint, rust, mildew and other buildups in numerous residential and commercial applications. Generally, however, the more pressure the machine delivers, the more power it has to lift dirt.

Hot water pressure washers are ideal for cleaning heavy equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, turbine blades and dams in hydroelectric plants If you want to wash large decks and clean siding a Karcher will suit you great.

What about reliability? Expert reviews emphasize that the quality of the pump is the most important factor in how long you can expect a pressure washer to last, with motor or engine quality secondary. Karcher pumps and motors really do last for ever. So I wouldn’t worry about that.

There are so many pressure washer models that there's little consensus among reviews. However I’m not fence sitting. I’m pro Karcher and proud. I recommend you get one as soon as you can.

High Pressure Washer Car Washer

Rinse off the pressure washer top layer or grit and grime. If you're using a machine with a variable jet spray, adjust it to a spray of approximately two or three inches wide, so it's strong enough to clean the car but won't damage the paintwork. You will need to use a slightly wider and less powerful setting for the windows, lights and other fragile areas.
Apply the foam cleaner. Set the pressure washer nozzle to the widest and least powerful setting - or remove it altogether - to coat the entire car in a layer of cleaner. Let the cleaner work its magic for a few moments, but don't let it dry or you'll be left with blemishes that will have to be buffed out later
Loosen the most stubborn dirt and grease with an attachable car brush. If you are using the same one to clean the wheels and wheelarches, as well as the paint work, do the wheel areas last; there's more chance of the brush picking up small stones and grit from around the wheels, and you don't want to be rubbing these against the paint. Rinse the brush thoroughly once you've finished using it to make sure all grit is removed.
Rinse the car off with a high-pressure jet setting, again using a slightly stronger setting for the paint than the glass areas. If you don't have a variable nozzle to adjust the power and width of the spray, just stand further away from the car - three feet should be a safe distance to prevent any damage.
Don't ever use the most pointed of the nozzle attachments that comes with your pressure washer when cleaning your car - it will be too strong and could damage paintwork,
Watch out for the initial boost of water that comes out of the pressure washer when you first turn it on. There can be a strong initial spray, so point the nozzle at the ground first
Try to pressure wash the car on concrete rather than on a gravel driveway to avoid the possibility of stones flying up and hitting the paintwork.

Pressure washers

Pressure washers are the most effective way to clean outdoors and are extremely easy to use: connect the device to the water supply and power outlet, turn on the tap, switch on the pressure washer and let the cleaning fun begin! With matching special accessories, the devices are transformed into real all-rounders: whether for wet blasting, pipe cleaning, terrace cleaning or gutter cleaning, the application possibilities are virtually unlimited. On top of that, the water pressure is always greatest in the immediate vicinity of the nozzle. This means that stubborn dirt is cleaned away more easily with lower nozzle clearance. The clearance is increased accordingly for light dirt and sensitive surfaces. Our practical examples show how you can achieve the best results with your pressure washer.
The performance class is the key differentiator for pressure washers and the main parameter in terms of the cleaning time required. The right device makes cleaning considerably easier. Different technical features, which are fine-tuned in line with the cleaning requirements, are linked to the different performance classes to make work even easier and more efficient.
The cleaning performance of a pressure washer is determined by how the water pressure and water volume are used in combination. The better these two factors are aligned, the easier it is to remove stubborn dirt and the quicker large surface areas can be cleaned. Kärcher puts its devices into specific performance classes based on different cleaning requirements. The larger the surface area to be cleaned and/or the more stubborn the dirt, the higher the performance class recommended. To clean large surface areas such as façades, a K7 device with matching accessories is recommended. As well as offering better performance, higher unit classes also offer other practical functions. These include longer hose lengths for a considerably extended working radius and better hose quality to improve twist resistance and flexibility. This ensures short set-up times and considerably more comfort, especially in the case of frequent use.
For over 60 years, Kärcher has been perfecting the art of high-pressure cleaning and is constantly in the spotlight on account of its outstanding innovations. More than 1,300 patents and utility models are evidence of the company's inventive spirit and make Kärcher the world's leader. Our focus is always on the needs of our customers.
The rotating high-pressure jet combines the power of a narrow jet with the area performance of a flat stream. Thanks to their patented nozzle technology, Kärcher's dirt blasters outperform the competition and enable faster and more efficient cleaning thanks to maximum stripping performance.
As the global market leader we offer the most reliable pressure washers on the market. For over 75 years, Kärcher has stood for quality and innovation that is "Made in Germany". We manufacture all of our devices in our own factories to the highest production standards. Before the products leave the factory, they are fully tested for their functionality and performance. That is why we can always guarantee to our customers that they are purchasing perfect products, which speak for themselves in terms of their performance capabilities and long service life.
The new generation of Kärcher cleaning agents is creating quite a stir with their 3-in-1 active principle. As well as perfect cleaning effect, these new multi-talented products provide gentle care and reliable protection, saving the operator lots of time and effort. By using renewable and natural resources, Kärcher is also placing an even stronger emphasis on sustainability. What's more, the smart bottle design is a winner too. Whether it is for connection (Plug 'n' Clean), for filling the detergent tank or as a container for suction via the detergent suction hose, the new detergents are universally suitable for all Kärcher pressure washers.

How to Clean a BBQ Grill,by a High Pressure washer?

Clean a BBQ Grill,by a High Pressure washer
Summer is coming. The warm sun, the cold drinks and the smell of cooking burgers and hotdogs wafting from the grill.

But after a long summer of fun and cookouts, your grill has gone through quite a bit.

All the delicious grease and fat that was cooked off the meat has now made its home inside your grill.

Don't worry though, cleaning your grill is a breeze with a high pressure washer.

There are only two things you really need to know beforehand:

1. Get a Good Degreaser
Unfortunately, most of the delicious meats we gorge on all summer long have some fat. And if you've ever washed dishes you know how impossible it can be to remove with just water.

So get a quality degreaser and make short work of the caked on grease inside your grill. Just apply it to the grill first. Let it work in for a couple minutes and then spray clean with regular water.

2. Disconnect Propane, Gas & Electricity
We all know electricity and water just don't mix. So if your grill has an electric starter, make sure you unplug it before your soak your grill with water.

Similarly, if you have a propane grill, disconnect the tank and move the connection hose out of the way.

If your grill is attached to your home's natural gas line, disconnect this before cleaning.

So,finally soon, your grill will look like new in no time.

Choosing a Pressure Washer: How to Compare Models

Choosing a Pressure Washer: How to Compare Models
Choosing a pressure washer that's perfect for YOU can be a challenge. There are dozens of manufacturers making hundreds of pressure washer models suited for the DIY'er/homeowner market. So how do you compare models in order to make the right choice?

Follow this quick and invaluable 5-point checklist which will help you choose your PERFECT pressure washer from among all the others:

Easy 5 Point Checklist for Choosing a High Pressure Washer

#1 - CHOOSE YOUR POWER SUPPLY: Electric or Gas-Powered Engine?

The pressure washers best suited for homeowners are powered by either an electric or gas engine.

 best sellers
best sellers 2014
ELECTRIC pressure washers are generally lightweight and very inexpensive & well-suited for small cleaning jobs like washing a car, etc. And they can be used indoors. Click here to look at my top picks for the best electric pressure washers on the market - with handy price information.

best gas pressure washer 2014

GAS-POWERED pressure washers are many times more powerful than electric models, don't require an electrical outlet, are more durable and they take less effort & time to clean projects. And you can click here to see my top choices for the best gas pressure washers - with low price information.

But they are noisier, and because of their fumes, gas-powered pressure washers must be used outdoors.

#2 - CHOOSE A WATER SUPPLY: Hot or Cold?

Pressure washers that use a HOT WATER supply are truly great for extremely heavy-duty industrial or farm applications.
Pressure washers that use a COLD WATER supply - which is a garden hose & outdoor faucet - offer excellent cleaning power for the homeowner, are easy to move, use and are economically priced.

For the average homeowner/DIY'er, choosing a cold water supply is a no-brainer.

#3 - CHOOSE YOUR ENGINE BRAND

Take a moment to think about what engine you'd want to power your pressure washer.

I recommend that you choose a pressure washer with a brand name engine!  Brand name engines like Karcher, Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Excell, Generac, AR Blue, etc. My best advice is to NOT to choose a pressure washer with a no-name engine. Or an engine that says it's built "just like a Honda"!

In my experience, you're just asking for problems with performance, warranty coverage and repair/replacement part problems by going with a pressure washer using a no-name engine.

Here's a great Generac gas pressure washer that has a high quality engine - and is competitively priced! I highly recommend it.

#4 - CHOOSE YOUR PUMP BRAND

Remember, the quality of the pump is just as important as the quality of your engine. The pump puts the pressure into the water, which gives you most of your cleaning force and power.

The best type of pump for a homeowners pressure washer is an axial-cam pump. Some brands of quality axial cam pump brands include: Karcher, Comet, CAT, General, AR and Briggs and Stratton.

#5 - COMPARE THE RATINGS

Ok, you've chosen your power supply, a hot or cold water source, your engine brand and your axial pump brand. Now what?

Now you can begin comparing pressure washer models using the three basic pressure washer ratings:

PSI or Pounds Per Square Inch is the force that the washer is able to produce. I recommend choosing a pressure washer with a minimum of 2,250 PSI.

GPM or Gallons per Minute is the rate of the water flow.

The more PSI and GPM, the more cleaning power you will have. You'll be able to finish your cleaning job more quickly - but higher powered units do have a higher price tag than lower priced units.

That's it! Good luck with your pressure washer hunting!

What Kind of High Pressure Washer Do I Need?

What Kind of High Pressure Washer Do I Need
There are several factors that affect the performance of a High pressure washer. Knowing what to look for ensures you get the best deal for your money. Do you need a high power washer for heavy-duty cleaning or one for light clean-up jobs? Find out what factors to consider before buying your new pressure washer.

Uses
Consider what you'll use your pressure washer for, and how often. Do you need it to cut through tough grime quickly, or just for occasional cleanings on less sturdy items, such as lawn chairs? An electric pressure washer is ideal for smaller cleaning jobs, because it is lightweight and cheaper. Gas-powered pressure washers can handle tougher duties, but are much noisier and can be heavier. Gas power washers are more portable because they do not need a source of electric power. Consider how much storage space you have for your pressure washer. Heavy-duty washers require more storage space.
Brands
Both the engine of a pressure washer and the pump should be manufactured by a reliable company to ensure they are well made and will last longer. A longer warranty is typically included from these companies as well. In Resources are links to lists of reputable engine and pump manufacturers. These include companies such as Honda Engines and General Pumps.

Water
There are many different measurements that describe the cleaning power of the pressure washer. Before examining these, decide if you need a hot or cold water pressure washer. Hot water will cut through tough grime, while cold water is usually good enough for most home jobs. The cold water may require more pressure or detergent to clean heavier dirt. After making this decision, compare the PSI (pounds per square inch), GPM (gallons per minute), and CPU (cleaning power units) of the pressure washer. Typically, higher numbers are better. A PSI in the 1300 to 2200 range will work for most home cleanings. A PSI of 2200 to 3000 will work for heavier cleaning such as vinyl siding. The GPM should be roughly between 1.5 and 2.5, increasing as the PSI increases. The CPU is an estimate used occasionally to show PSI multiplied by GPM. A higher CPU equals a more powerful pressure washer.

Homemade Pressure Washer Cleaning Solution

High Pressure washer makes easy work of cleaning the exterior siding of your home, barn or garage, cleaning cement walks or driveways, power washing your deck or simply cleaning your car in the fastest possible manner. Rent one at a local home or hardware center. Washing solutions add another expense, which you can eliminate if you know how to make your own. You'll most likely find the necessary ingredients in your kitchen.

A Solution for Every Problem

Check the manufacturer's instruction booklet or your rental agreement to assure that you don't damage the pressure washer by using a homemade cleaning solution.

Each of the solutions below makes a specific amount. Tank sizes vary, so adjust the amounts accordingly.

For the best overall solution for cleaning vinyl siding, mix 1/3 cup of powdered laundry detergent, 2/3 cup of powdered household cleanser, 1 quart of liquid laundry bleach and 1 gallon of water. (If washing a wooden deck surface, don't exceed the suggested ratio, which can lighten the wood.) If you see mildew spots on the siding, treat those areas by hand with a solution of 9 parts warm water to 1 part liquid bleach before power washing. Alternately, use white vinegar to remove the mildew; its antifungal properties may keep it from returning. After power washing the siding with the detergent mixture, let it set for 10 minutes and then rinse completely to avoid leaving any residue.

A simple solution of 30 percent distilled white vinegar and 70 percent water makes a good general cleaning solution completely safe for the environment. Use this solution for cleaning cement, brick and even windows. Vinegar has natural antifungal properties and may keep your surfaces free from mildew growth.
before & after

To wash your car, add 1/2 cup of sudsy ammonia and 1 tsp. of dish-washing liquid to a gallon of hot water. Rinse carefully and completely to leave a spot-free surface. If you have hard water, you may need to wipe down your car to avoid water spots.

How a High Pressure Washer Pump Works?

How a High Pressure Washer Pump Works?
Crankcase
A typical pressure washer pump works by changing the rotating motion of a crankshaft into a back-and-forth motion of a piston or plunger device inside a cylinder. This type of pump is called a reciprocating positive displacement pump. The whole system works much like a car engine. Most High pressure washer pumps have either two cylinders (duplex) or three (triplex).

The two main elements of a pressure washer pump are the crankcase and the manifold. The crankcase connects to the power source. The crankshaft's cams rotate and move connecting rods forward and backward, a motion often termed "reciprocal." Attached to the connecting rods are plunger guides that run from the crankcase into the manifold cylinders.
Manifold
Water exiting a DIY pressure washer runs through the manifold. Plungers or pistons, which rest tightly inside the cylinders, connect to the plunger guides with retaining bolts. The manifold also contains inlet and discharge valves, which enable the pump to maintain a continuous flow of water. The water travels only one way through the valves---in through the inlet valve and out through the discharge valve.

Valves control flow
As the crankcase rotates, the plunger or piston is drawn up in what's called a backward stroke. At this point, an inlet valve opens and allows water to enter the manifold. This happens because, as the plunger or piston is brought up, the volume in the chamber increases, lowering the pressure inside the chamber and triggering the valve to open.

The inlet valve then closes, and the plunger or piston begins its downward thrust. This forces the discharge valve to open, releasing the water through the hose and nozzle.

High Pressure Washer for Car Cleaning&Car Washing

High Pressure washer is multi-purpose outdoor cleaning machines, especially for cleaning cars. In order to avoid damaging the car, you must use low-pressure settings so that the paint is not chipped off. Other precautions have to be taken into consideration as well, to preserve the washer's longevity and protect yourself.

The Pressure Washer
A DIY pressure washer utilizes an engine to push high-pressure water from a hose through a nozzle to clean cars, driveways and houses. To use a pressure washer, you must connect a water hose to an outdoor spigot and then to the water pump. Add pressure washer-safe soap by a hose to the pump to thoroughly clean your car. There is a adjuster to adjust the pounds-per-square inch (PSI) to fit your need. The lowest pressure setting is the best for cars.
Pressure
Turn your pressure to around 2500 PSI or lower. Many pressure washers go into 3000 PSI, which is much too high for cleaning cars. If you use that pressure setting, it will rip the paint off of your car and will actually cut toes off.

Soap Mixture
Do not use common household cleaning soaps or car cleaning soaps that are not designed for pressure washers. Both of those cleaning agents will clog the pump, potentially breaking it. Use soaps that are designed for both pressure washers and cars as these are the only cleaning solutions that will work without any problem. Most soaps label whether or not it is pressure washer safe.
Nozzles
Use the wide spray nozzle to spread out the water to cover more area. The other nozzles are better suited for housing, sidewalks and other areas, but not for homes. To use this nozzle, snap it into the front of the spray gun.

Safety
Do not aim the hose at anyone as it will scratch and cut anyone even at lower pressure. Do not rinse your hands and feet under the hose as well for the same reason. Make sure your car is away from the house, so that it does not hit any windows or damage the house's sides.

How to Use the Gun
Stay at least three to four feet away from the car at all times. This will maximize the spray distance. Also, never aim directly at the car, but slightly above to avoid getting scratches from the spray. Do not spray in one place, but move your hand back and forth to overlap. This way you efficiently cover the car in the water and soap material. Start by spraying the engine area, then work your way around the car. Be sure to spray the car down with just water once the car is soaped up.
